Tivoli

Tivoli is a relative new addition to Charlotte's First Ward, also known as the Garden District, having been constructed in 2001. The First Ward, rich in history, was once home to people black and white. North of Trade Street and east of Tryon, First Ward was named in 1870 when politicians divided Charlotte, a town of 4,500, into manageable parts. Prosperity reigned until the 1930's. Wave after wave of change ensued - from public housing to vacant land - and now, thanks to a stunning metamorphosis planned by Bank of America and the Charlotte Housing Authority, First Ward is the hot new place to live.

Built with a discernible bow to Italian architecture, Tivoli is a mid-rise complex sitting on a hill facing downtown. 95 homes are fronted with window boxes, iron balcony railings, and stunning rooflines and accents that set it apart from other residences in the area. The one and two-bedroom units inside Tivoli contain hardood floors and granite countertops. Open living room floors plans are complemented by crown-molding, double-doors with side lights, and transoms leading to the balconies.
