The history of Second Ward reaches back to the beginning of the 19th century where the very diversified community of Second Ward thrived for several decades. The neighborhood of "Brooklyn", taken from Brooklyn New York in the early 1900's, represented a self-sustainable town within a town. The thriving mixed use neighborhood featured business ranging from J.R. Hemphill, Real Estate Man and Tailor; N.H. Tomas, Shoemaker; ACME Pressing Club; Eagles Drub Store; several barber shops and other neighborhood businesses all within the economically diverse neighborhood of Brooklyn. It was the home to some of the most wealthy and educated, as well as poor and uneducated portions of the black community. In 1904, it provided Charlotte with Brevard Street Library, the first free black library in the South, in 1923 it established Second Ward High School, the first urban black high school in Charlotte, as well as establishing Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church which remains a part of the current Second Ward. In 2001, the City of Charlotte issued a proposal for the redevelopment of Second Ward. 210 Trade is located at the corner of Trade St. and College St. in Uptown Charlotte's 2nd Ward. 210 Trade will be located across the street from the exciting EpiCentre entertainment complex and one block from the Charlotte Bobcat's arena.

The Skye condos are located at 3rd St. & Caldwell St in the Second Ward. The Skye condos will be a 22-story high rise development with a rooftop restaurant. The property was once called "The Park" and since there are new owners, they have changed the name to Skye condos. Some of the amenities the Skye condos will have include, valet service, pool, and a gym. You can also expect some hotel types of amenities that include shuttle and cleaning service. Those have yet to be confirmed, but I would bet those will be included.
The Skye Condos will have 67 condos and 172 Hyatt Place Hotel rooms. The condos will range from 800 to 3,800 square feet. Parking will be on floors 2-6 and Hyatt brand hotel on floors 7 - 9 and 11-13, the 10th floor will feature a fabulous lobby and separate amenity areas for the hotel and guests and condos owners.
The rooftop will feature an 8,000 sq ft restaurant with an indoor and outdoor dining. The ground floor will also include 2,600 square feet of retail. Residents will also enjoy living in a great location as they will be within walking distance to Bobcats Arena and the EpiCentre.
