As any downtown resident can tell you, parking is almost always a hassle. When there was an open lot in the First Ward, the first idea was to turn it into a parking garage. However, architect David Furman saw the potential for a condominum development, and took advantage of the property’s sloping grade to build an underground parking garage for residents.
Cityview Lofts were built in 2004 and boast 25 units in the heart of the First Ward’s Garden District. One of first features noticeable of these modern condos are the “tabletop” roofs that grace each unit, which are availalbe in either 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom floor plans, with the smaller averaging 650 sqft and the larger averaging 1,300 sqft. Inside, residents can enjoy 10 ft cielings, hardwood floors combined with tile, and the always aesthetic granite countertops.
The First Ward has been revitalized by a large grant and harbors many new planned developments. Residents at Cityview Lofts can enjoy easy access to the new Charlotte Bobcats Arena, the Mint Museum of Craft and Design, and the Levine Museum of the New South.
